Headspace - supporting school leaders

Headspace provides Headteachers with the time and space to develop and sustain their own wellbeing and personal and professional effectiveness.

Worklife Support

This bespoke and confidential programme provides a framework within which Headteachers can explore the most effective behaviours and learn from each other, using action-learning and problem-solving techniques.

“Headspace has taken away some of the isolation and loneliness a head can feel.”

The Headspace programme offers leaders:

  • the resources they need to improve their resilience and work more effectively
  • a safe and confidential framework within which they can reflect together on the practical issues of leadership and develop robust, creative and sustainable strategies
  • the chance to enhance their capacity to work in a complex, constantly changing environment, facing challenges with optimism and creativity
  • Additional support through a dedicated Employee Assistance Programme is also available.

Each Headspace programme is shaped entirely by the individual group of leaders. The Worklife Support facilitator focuses on the specific concerns and interests of the small group and helps to keep the sessions on track.

So far, we have supported more than 500 Headteachers in well over 20 local authorities, some for several programmes.

Headspace helps both new and experienced heads to rediscover their deeply-held values and sustain their enthusiasm and commitment for the work they do.

“All the sessions have been helpful – offering solutions, sharing expertise, having independent listeners, supported by professional examples and leadership/change/management theory. Headspace is an opportunity to reflect in a non-judgemental environment with trusted colleagues.”
